Academics
*Congratulations to the following MVCS students recently auditioned and chosen for the ACDA Honor Choir:
Rachelle Hunter, Savannah Wade, Janell Loredo, Ruby Cook, Merri Camburn, Christian Pursell, Serena Buie, Adam Skerritt, Jim Won.
*National Honor Society! Attention all NHS members: the first meeting is tomorrow at lunchtime in Room B23. Please bring a sack lunch. We will start the important work of the NHS including a staff appreciation project and some fun community service. If you are a member of the NHS this is a mandatory meeting. See you Tuesday!
*Want to apply to the National Honor Society? If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior and have a GPA of 3.65 or higher, you can be a member. Complete an application along with two recommendations by October 15th. Packets are available in Student Services or from Mrs. Basilius. The NHS Induction Ceremony will take place on Wednesday evening, November 12th.
*Juniors and Seniors -- Jostens will be here Thursday, October 9th for those students with the last name starting with A through L and Friday, October 10th for those students with the last name starting with M through Z to order your class ring and announcements for Graduation 2009 during lunchtime. Cash, check, money orders, and all major credit cards accepted. Stop by Student Services if you have not received your packets. Please take home The Class of Two Thousand Nine sample announcement for your parents.
*PSAT Testing for grades 9, 10, and 11 is scheduled for next Wednesday, October 15, at MV during your first period class from 8:15am till 10am.
*Check out the Academic web site on mvcs.org for several college career days in our area.
*JanTerm San Francisco Mission Trip--$50 Deposit is due today to Student Services along with your permission slips. Remember to include your check made out to Monte Vista Christian School.
Athletics
*Girls Golf @ Spring Hills. Game 3pm Dismiss at 2pm. LV 2:15pm
*See Veronica in Athletics if you want to sign up for the after practice athletics bus which leaves at 6:05 pm. Sign up before 1pm.

Student Services
*Lost and Found: We have a cell phone that was turned in to Student Services, a set of keys, and some jewelry. A watch with a silver band with a black face has been lost; if you find it, please drop it off in Student Services.
Yearbook News
*Senior's baby photo which will get placed in the back of the 2009 yearbook is due today. Include your quote or your scripture selection for your senior photo and the baby picture to MVyearbook@gmail.com. You can drop off the baby photo and quote to Student Services as well; please include your full name on each for the yearbook staff.
*Your Senior Dedication order form and payment is due October 31st, and all photos are due December 1st. You can create your own dedication or let the talented yearbook staff assemble it for you. Pick up the flyer in Student Services or download it from our website. Contact Mrs. Basilius at extension 466 or email bethbasilius@mvcs.org

*Wednesday, October 8th the Red Cross Blood Drive is in the Middle School Gym. Donations from 16 year olds require written parental consent. Pick up the American Red Cross flyer in Student Services and sign up.
*Wednesday--October 29th -- Parent Teacher Conferences. Please contact the teacher via email if you need an appointment.
ASB and Club Announcements
*ASB New Car Drawing Fundraiser! Buy tickets and YOU could win a 2009 Toyota Camry. To purchase tickets, talk to any ASB member, Club President or at the Business Office.
*Do you think you have the skills to be crowned the best dancer, or dance crew at Monte Vista? Sign up for an audition to "So You Think You Can Dance" in Student Services. Pick your audition time and bring your music. All moves, clothing, and music must be appropriate for Monte Vista guidelines. The auditions are for October 13th, 14th and 15th from 3:25pm until 4:05pm. The Dance Off is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28th. Contact Maddi Potter or Alison Stetak for additional questions.
